Archie Dick Delivers 20th Alan Paton Lecture at UKZN

	The Hidden History of South Africaâ��s Book and Reading CulturesArchie L Dick was invited to deliver the 20th Alan Paton Lecture at University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) by the university’s Alan Paton Centre and Struggle Archives.

After Dick’s lecture, which was titled “Our Common Readers and Our Common Reading Cultures”, a launch was held for his book, The Hidden History of South Africa’s Book and Reading Cultures.

The significant role played by books and reading in the history of South Africa was highlighted during the 20th Alan Paton Lecture presented on the Pietermaritzburg campus by South African librarian and activist Professor Archie Dick.
The Lecture, organised by UKZN’s Alan Paton Centre (APC) and Struggle Archives, was titled: “Our Common Readers and Our Common Reading Cultures”, and examined the role of the printed word over the centuries.
