In the acknowledgements for Prodigal Daughters: Stories of South African Women in Exile, Lauretta Ngcobo recounts how she spent time reminiscing with Thokozile maZulu Chaane just hours before she died. It was at Chaane’s funeral that Ngcobo and other women who had been in exile agreed that it was important to recall their histories and capture them for posterity.
